In my experience, this is a mess. So many passengers with zones 3+ sneak in while only the zones 1-2 are called and nobody sends them back.
The worst is in outstations where the agents often don't even have signs to separate the waiting lines for zones 1-2 and 3+. I recently complained about it to one of the agents who answered it was my duty to fight my way through to them during boarding. Funny thing, I was holding a business class BP with platinum status on it. It's beyond me how you can serve this kind of treatment to a J status passenger.
I have no idea why they'd drop Skypriority which was great and go for this ridiculous system that nobody understands nor enforces, but I'm more and more tempted to give other airlines a go.
