Happy to see so many positive reviews for this property lately. I do not get why this hotel got so much hate before about cheating the suite upgrade policy. I hope they can just clean the windows. Otherwise, I am totally satisfied.
This is easily one of the best hotels in SF rn and a contender to be the best IMO. Looking forward to the Rosewood SF eventually but until then, I think the STR is the best option. Certainly blows any of the stuff offerings from Hyatt, Hilton, and IHG out of the water.
I actually chose the RC over the St Regis after having a lackluster stay at the StR last month and a stellar stay at the RC during the same month. The Ritz to me is much classier, particularly with the lobby being open, and the staff seemed a step above the StR staff. I was lowly gold at that point (still am until a stay tomorrow night at the RC where I'll hit 50 nights) & am planning to stay at the StR in early Nov to see how they take care of platinum guests. As of now, having really meaningless status with Bonvoy, I chose RC over StR just based on overall feel of the hotel, service from the staff members, coffee machines in room, and an actual lobby to have a drink in.
I'm really not a fan of the 4th floor "bar" space that is clearly a converted conference room of some sort at the StR, and I hate the cramped lobby now that the lobby is getting refreshed. Speaking of which,
why are they refreshing the lobby? It was spectacular before ... I was disappointed to see that upon check-in last month.
