1) To confirm, if you've earned the sign up bonus for the personal Brilliant Amex card before, you will no longer be able to earn it ever again, because the SUB is limited to once per lifetime, is that right? I had canceled mine due to the pandemic and so am curious if the offer I see right now may apply again.
2) Does anyone care to venture a guess as to if #1 applies if/when Amex changes the card per the August discussions, for instance by bumping the AF to $650, auto plat instead of gold, etc. In other words, if I've previously earned a SUB with the current Brilliant and subsequently cancelled it, when the new card comes out, perhaps I would be able to earn the SUB for the new version, in spite of the "lifetime" limit? Not suggesting people can predict policy in the future, but perhaps someone here has seen another card that's materially changed its AF and reward structure in the past and so "reset" any associated lifetime SUB limits.
3) I had asked an amex rep on the phone about #1 and he was unfortunately not super clear, opting to read out loud to me the T&S instead. He said though that once you submit your online application, the website will automatically warn you if you do not qualify for the SUB, at which point you can click cancel app and not have any credit check. Does anyone know if this is accurate? Meaning that instead of asking people on FT, the best bet is to simply try to apply online? Especially regarding question #2 if/when the new card comes out?
Thank you!
I can confirm that #3 is true so that should answer your questions to #1 and #2 if you try to apply. I'm sure there are cases where they can still not offer you the bonus, but their system seems to be automated so if you clear the application step without the warning you aren't eligible for the bonus, chances are very good you'd get the bonus upon meeting the spend requirements.
