I normally would NEVER book unless PZ>0. Especially if in some respects, the primary reason for the trip is to burn PP. I've even considered use of STW. The last few intl flights I've been on has seen J full. A far cry from earlier in the year when it was half empty after upgrades. However, maybe I'll take a gamble. I did want to go via IAD to try the PL lounge.

So IAD-BRU/FRA/LHR are very low risk? Any other routes?
How about the return? I see PZ>0 on some LHR-IAD flights but only the afternoon one. I'd prefer the early one.

When have they cleared in your experience? I see someone saying "close" to departure (same day?) and someone else saying minutes/hours after waitlisting (is that strictly with PN/IN available?)

Another note, I read an recent interview, with a UA exec stating that they MAY still extend PP this year. Apparently they havent decided yet.

Oh and for the OP, I'm planning a short trip in early Dec. I think I will mostly focus on the Christmas Markets since I've never been in europe during the cold time of year. For your timeframe, you might be able to catch them right after thanksgiving. Maybe even attend an opening. Otherwise, if you seek something warmer, there's always Italy, Greece, Turkey.
