They are offering a substantially better rate for the dates i am interested in, but if I can't get any credit for that stay, it's at best a wash. If i can get the better rate / and the stay/points credit then it's worth doing.

I'm wondering this too. I booked via Genting and check in on Saturday. I'll report back, but regardless it seems Genting is the better option, at least for my dates.
