Why do airlines and online travel agencies make it so hard to impossible to retrieve fare rules for flight bookings ?
Why can't online travel booking websites just display the fare rules in the "view/manage booking" sections ?
Booked a flight ticket online via AMEX US Travel, turns this is handled/subtracted under the hood to Expedia.
Checking my trip in AMEX Travel "Manage my trips": no way to check fare rules
Chat with AMEX Travel: they tell me to call a certain phone number.
Called the phone number, it feels and sounds like it's Expedia agents masquerading as AMEX who handle the call
Agent can see the fare rules but is unable to send me a copy. Not allowed to copy & paste and send them to me by email
Agent transfers me to supervisor team but the wait time is too long, so I hang up.
This is not a problem limited to AMEX or Expedia. I noticed most air ticket booking websites are like that.
Why I want a copy of the fare rules ? I want an official copy (sent by the company with which I booked) so I have material to use for a dispute if the airline refuses or is too slow to refund.
