In the past at LGW I have been refused checking in a bag under someone else’s name, but fine to check in mine on my part of the booking.
So I think you will need enough people there to have an allowance big enough for all the bags you want to check.
So say you are 4 passengers in Club Europe with an allowance of two checked bags per passenger, and have 3 bags to check, you would need at least 2 of the 4 passengers present.
Rules could be different at LHR though.
