Had this on a recent flight also, the message wanted to apologise and in case I wasn't made aware at departure it was due to operational restraints at Heathrow Airport.
To me it makes it sound like it was Heathrows issue rather than BA's, so please don't blame us. Unless to gate staff and captain was lying to us, the delay was very much of BA's making!
Maybe BA are trying to head off EC261 claims for delays by blaming Heathrow?
