Exactly. An EDL will not get you global Entry, nexus, or precheck. It along with the passport card made more sense in the immediate years after 2009 when more stringent documentation was required at the northern border, but its usage has declined in tandem with the increase in nexus uptake. Most Canadian provinces have depreciated their edls for that reason.
