Also, I assume they simply refunded the difference between your I fare and the G fare? If you wanted a higher fare class (like Y), that ticket might actually cost more than your original I fare.
I hadn’t thought about that. Most most common use case is when I need to exercise a SDC on a paid FC ticket and FC isn’t available on the new flight so they ticket me into Y. I don’t know if it’s refundable but it always posts as Y miles.
