Noticed there hasn’t been any updates on this one in a while so thought I’d contribute since I’ll be checking out tomorrow.
Reservation:
Booked a twin room for 5 nights, which came to a total of 93000 points. I think the cheapest flexible rate at the time was €70. Not a good use of points at the time but I wanted to try my luck at a suite upgrade. Day after booking I was upgraded to a Superior King. I tried to look for this room to book but could not find it, I still can’t find it even now. I called the hotel to ask if a suite upgrade was possible for my stay and offered to pay an upsell but I was told that I’d already been assigned a suite complimentary for being diamond. I told the front desk that my reservation didn’t reflect the suite upgrade but they assured me that I definitely had a suite, so I took their word for it and cancelled my reservation at another hotel where I would have had a bigger room and a balcony.
Day 1 of arrival I check in and shocker, the room was not a suite. It was a King room of some sort (as the reservation suggested) and it had an awful egg like smell. I arrived very late from the airport and was too tired to complain. Day 2 I explained to the front desk that I had been promised a suite and explained that I had even offered to pay for an upgrade. They apologised and I was shown to a King deluxe suite with the offer of being upgraded for the rest of my stay complimentary or having my points for the entire stay refunded.
Pictures of the suite below:
Safe to say I accepted the suite.
Suite was excellent and even had two U.K. sockets which was handy since I completely forget my power adapters. Strange smell of egg appeared from time to time and seemed to be coming from the shower area but considering this smell was also present in my initial room I made the assumption this was just an issue with the hotel in general.
Breakfast:
Served between 7:30 and 10:30. Usual continental options. Scrambled egg, hard boiled, potatoes, sausage, mushrooms, cheese salads, soup, yogurts etc. No pork as everything is halal but they did have a chorizo style sausage which tasted quite similar to pork, I couldn’t tell the difference. Everything is served by breakfast staff, you point at what you want on the buffet and they’ll plate it for you. Thought the food on offer was quite reasonable.
Spa:
Many massage and bathing options. Went for the Turkish bath, sauna and oil massage package at the recommendation of the spa staff. Found it a bit too intimate for my liking so best to ask what each option entails before purchasing, though I will admit I did leave feeling much more relaxed. They only accept cash at the spa, which I found strange. Spa services also priced in dollars, though they’ll accept Turkish Lira.
Staff:
All spoke good English, pleasant all the time and all very helpful. No complaints here.
Wi-Fi:
Found this to be very slow.
Struggled to get YouTube playing at 480p on the advertised premium Wi-Fi (free). Didn’t see an option to pay for anything faster.
Location:
I thought it was very well situated (European side). Only a few minutes walk to touristy places such as the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Hafiz Mustafa, Topkapia Palace etc.
Overall I had a very good stay and would certainly stay again.
