So 2 issues really. Can you get from T5 to T8 airside. I mean you can but will they let you with out a flight in T8? They did just begin the airside T5-T8 bus though. If you did make it to T8 would AA accept a B6 flight as onward OW..
You can clear security in T8 with a valid boarding pass that day from any terminal. You don't have to be flying out of T8.
I flew AA184 Flahship Business LAX-JFK on Friday. Delayed twice, surprise surprise! I left T8 about 1:00 am. Of course the Flagship Lounge was closed until 4:30 am. My next flight was from T7 later in the Morning. At 5:00 am I cleared security and went to the Flagship Lounge. No issues.
At LAX I usually clear security in T6 and walk to T5 or T4 airside.
