There remains the possibility that, while you did not request this, Marriott's illustrious IT shows it as requested at the hotel. After all, I'm staying in a room right now that I booked for 2, the confirmation shows for 4, the site wouldn't let me change anything nor cancel, the phone rep saw it appeared for 4 and couldn't change anything (in a room with max occupancy of 3) and the hotel shows it as 2.
