I guess only one way to find out...
Dunno if you are Apple or Android, but if Apple, do you get AppleCare?
My primary phone is an iPhone. I upgrade every year and previously always bought Apple Care+ upon upgrading as I choose to go without a case. That cost an extra $200. Then, right before upgrading, I would pay $100 for an Express Replacement and gift this “like new” iPhone to a friend or family member.
Although the Amex insurance caps out at just $800 (IIRC), the deductible is lower ($50) than what I was paying for express replacements. This won’t cover the cost of an express replacement but it should be enough to get things fixed when I inevitably break my phone during the year. This (iPhone 13 Pro Max) is the first time I didn’t get Apple Care+. Seems great on paper but I have yet to try to exercise the insurance in practice. We’ll see.
