Access to the Star Alliance lounges internationally are a huge draw for me. SQ lounges in Singapore. NZ and SQ lounges in SYD. You have to be at the airport so early and the lounge is a nice place to wait.
The ability to jump the lines for checkin and boarding. Some places the lines are very long and chaotic.
When I fly OAL I am always reminded of the benefit of my *G status.
Aussienarelle Hence the assumptions. If flying in Business and choosing to fly non-LH, one is not often presented with the Senator lounge issue. Though
jpezaris makes a good point re LHR, though I understand in T2 there are many star alliance options, which are superior.
But I take the point re Swiss and access to the Swiss Senator lounges as *Gold. Given the competitive Swiss long haul product (as compared to LH), this may be a parameter I have not considered. Though the P inventory earning rate on Swiss leaves much to be desired…
