No doubt the actual taxes applicable are identical across all carriers, but this does not stop airlines from charging arbitrary higher amounts (often disguised under the moniker "taxes & fees") for award tickets. For instance, if LH & UA bothoffer Business Class flights between FRA & LLAX, I bet the cash amount charged by UA would be much lower than that charged by LH forthe same sector/cabin.
