The difference being that SQ actually offers direct flights from the VTL countries, while TG slashed many of their long distance flights pre-covid and do not even go to NA anymore. Unless they bring back those routes, VTL flights would be a non-starter for people coming from the USA/Canada.
The difference being that Singapore's best draw is Changi airport, while Thailand's is...Thailand.
