I have been a Diamond member for 7 years now, I always travel with my partner (we only do leisure stays) who manages most of our finances, including our credit cards. So in ALL our Hilton stays we have NEVER used a credit card in my name, always use my partners CC. We have traveled extensively all over the world. I NEVER had an issue getting my points and no one ever asked anything (NEVER even realised this could be an issue?)
