People seem to misconstrue what the ‘paying guest’ means.
The "gamble" is that somebody else (even if a family member) pays the bill at precisely the hotel that has decided to aggressively look for cost savings whilst remaining within the T&Cs.
If it hasn´t happened to you... then great... but it has happened to others. So you shouldn´t go around suggesting that your data points are the only valid ones.
