Personally I think the odds of getting a suite are high and they are willing to upgrade mid stay even if they can’t accommodate at check in.
I had a very similar suite to the review above and while it’s starting to age it was a great room and only complaint is the odd central light control next to the beds which were some old temperamental touch technology (I’ve found lots of Dubai hotels are superficially nice but wear badly)
In my 3 day stay I found the queue for the restaurant breakfast (included in my rate) unbearable every morning so settled for the lounge which was fine with an egg station and few other freshly cooked bits.
Interestingly I found the afternoon tea really bad (Shangri-La has a better offer) and I can see from the pics in the review the sandwiches look better. We found the evening spread was much better with plenty of choice and some good cocktails.
We also quite like our 2 visits to the steakhouse we didn’t do steak the first night as weren’t too hungry so returned the final night. On both visits the staff were really attentive without being over baring and the waiter remembered us from a few nights earlier regarding our likes/dislikes and an off menu dish the chef prepared. To top it a great meal we were given a complimentary dessert for our loyalty.
for the right price I would absolutely be back.
