It relates to the size of the inflatable raft housing. Single lane slide-rafts are fitted at doors 3L/3R so the housing doesn’t project so far into the cabin as dual lane rafts.

I am so glad you brought this us up since I have just noticed the 787-8 diagrams incorrectly show housings for dual lane rafts at 3L/3R
