While I buy a lot of things from Amazon, it is virtually useless for groceries. Unless you like paying sky-high prices. I'm honestly surprised they haven't figured this out yet, considering their proficiency in countless other areas.
I don't care what anyone says, Walmart is a solid grocery option. Their prices are very reasonable. Their store brands, are some of the best values out there. While I might not purchase this membership separately, I actually feel this is a useful addition to the Platinum, for me at least.
Yes, I think the thought behind WalMart is a regional thing. I live in the northeast which was probably one of the last places Walmart penetrated and so I rarely go there. But I know plenty of folks who live in North Carolina who make multiples of what I make and Walmart is the regular grocery store. Within 10 minutes of my house I have like 10 grocery store options— just off the top of my head there is a local Stop and Shop, Shop Rite, Aldi, Whole Foods, Wegmans, Target, Trader Joe’s, and Foodtown.
For some, it’s a 30+ minute drive to the nearest grocery store and that store is Walmart.
