Anyone know how to cash upgrade an international itinerary's domestic legs, where PlusPoints have already been applied? Trip to Europe where international legs cleared into PZ with PlusPoints, but domestic legs (in B) are waitlisted. I am top of the list and expect it to run at 24h, but frustratingly there is no option to do a cash upgrade to J on the domestic legs like I would on other itineraries. I suspect it's because the segment is already waitlisted with PlusPoints. Is this a rare instance in which United will refuse money for a domestic upgrade?? I would love to spend it to guarantee the upgrade, but neither me nor rate desk could figure out how. The only option was upfairing the entire outbound leg, including the international flight, which was obviously unpalatable. Apparently the fare did not allow upfairing the domestic leg alone, and did not give them a cash offer price for the upgrade.
