Depends on what level of protection you feel most comfortable with. Surgical masks I generally feel OK with, especially now that the majority of the flying population is vaccinated. If you'd like further protection, I've found that 3M's Aura N95 masks are the most comfortable (behind the back of the head straps instead of behind the ear) and well-sealing of the N95s.
I was okay with the general surgical type mask (the blue ones) until I started wearing KN95 masks. I found the KN95 kind of mask much more comfortable because it sits away from your nose and mouth. With the surgical mask, when you breathe in, you kind of suck the mask into your nose and mouth (especially if you are a mouth breather). The KN95 also hold up better if you want to remove it and put it in your pocket.
