I believe the walk from Loews Portofino Bay Hotel to the theme parks is about 0.8 to 1.0 miles (1.29 to 1.6km) depending upon which route you take. (The shorter option requires cutting through the Hard Rock Hotel parking lots.)

The other option is to take the complimentary shuttle bus or water taxi. Although, I've read conflicting reports on whether the water taxi is operational. Some people say it was cut due to COVID issues, but the official Universal website still says it's operational.

In terms of other hotel options, my question would be how are you planning on getting to/from the hotel to the theme parks. None of the Marriott properties are within walking distance to Universal Orlando. As such, you'll either need to pay for transportation, take a shuttle, or pay to park if you drive yourself.
