As a vaccinated Australian citizenship living in the USA I was able to travel to England in July and quarrantine at the home of a friend who chooses not to be vaccinated. Then travel round Wales. Travel to Majorca and travel round the island all without quarrantining. Testing negative for each test taken.

However, I have not seen my 80 year old father, none of my siblings, nieces and nephews and none of my friends who live there since July 2019.

I am not willing to pay $3,000 to pay in a government mandated hotel. Presumably used to ensure the hotel operators have replacement revenue from tourists. New facilities being built? No intention to pay to stay in one.

I stay with family and friends. They have spare second homes where I could quarrantine, but lottery as to whether I would be chosen and I refuse to pay what I consider a ransom to see my friends and family.

Much frustration with the current approach by the federal government and administered by the state governments.

Also, the need to "apply" to leave the country. I am not a prisoner on parole. I am not a slave and have freedom of movement. Obviously not in Australia. Ridiculous system that I refuse to participate in so may never get to see my father in this life again. However, I am just a regular person, not a profesional athlete, not in the movie/entertainment industry, not wealthy enough or have enough connections to avoid the quarrantine hotels and to leave the country.

There are many Aussies stuck overseas without the security of income and shelter and unable to get back to Australia.

You better believe the current government is unpopular. The Opposition does not need to promise much, just sit back and say little.

End of vent.
