As writerguyfl mentioned, every hotel operates and does things differently. The only standard is that there is no standard.
A Rooms Controller at a 1000 room resort assigning rooms is not going to handle things the same as if I’m doing a HIS 3-11 shift and have nothing assigned when I walk in so I do whatever I want. As an FYI, when booking 3rd party reservations, any requests that are made on that individual site (Priceline, Expedia, HotelsConnect, etc.) do not cross over into OnQ. Just because you put X in as a request on their site, unless a rep. from the site calls the property or unless you call the property, we have no idea.
Also, usually 3rd party reservations are not walked. Too much potential for headaches regarding walk compensation. With a traditional walk the guest’s reservation basically gets cancelled and they are never charged. When the 3rd party site already has charged the guest it’s a PIA to make them whole. Ideally you’re trying to walk a one night guest with no loyalty status or the lowest possible rung on the status pole that booked directly.
