i just took a look back and i received three different emails in the two weeks preceding my flight to JFK last month. this was a ticket that had at least half a dozen changes, so it belies belief the OP received no communication -- which on its own is irrelevant because i'd think a trip like this would warrant the focus and attention given a newborn and the myriad issues one must content with.
nor do i find the idea of mingling the real issue of tariff abuse with the notion of cancelling a return due to a missed outbound. they are entirely different concepts, and that goes back to the whole inane discussion of t&cs whereby you purchased something which had certain restictions and opted not to buy a different product which allowed for full flexibility. further, you could have easily purchased an economy ticket for very cheap these days to the US if you truly had the intention of traveling. but you havent and did not, so you arent really doing yourself many favors in the entire scenario.
