Do you realize how this looks that you're not actually trying to be in Boston now? Why should BA bend its rules for someone who isn't making an effort to actually travel to the destination. You know the outbound is gone yet you still won't fly to Boston.

And responses are changing, or "off base" as you call it, because you seem to be digging your heels in because you're getting answers that you don't agree with. It went from an "oops I forgot and I'll try to get there and take the return" to "I forgot to put an extremely expensive flight in my calendar because I expected BA to email me ahead of time that I had a flight coming up but don't feel the need to actually travel there now right away"

You posted in a public forum so yes there will be people to advise on how they think you could get some goodwill gesture, but there are (mostly) others who will will comment about what the actual outcome will be.
