Yes it's real, and I already had my welcoming email when it launched. None of AS' systems know this though, still same bonus miles, and such.
Your 2022 100K Elite status won't kick in until late January 2022 when the new Tier goes live. The welcoming email is just advising that you have already qualified for the new Tier when it launches.
