I had a booking in biz class for SAN-(NRT/HND)-FUK for May 2021 that cost 120k miles rt in biz class. I booked it 11 months prior, and am sad I had to refund it because Japan banned tourists. This thread prompted me to rebook SAN-NRT rt for August 2022. I hope Japan fixes its COVID mess by then.
Formerly free domestic Japan tag-on flights are now 10k extra in each direction. And AA still hides nice Japan Airlines non-stops among the list of AA flights with crazy connections. Pure customer abuse because they can do a "best flights" search if they wanted to.
