When I do have a card that transfers to an account specialist/retentions, I have asked them to check the other card that wouldn't transfer and there has NEVER been an offer on that card.

So I'm inclined to think the automated system is doing its job and there are no workarounds. Unfortunately, Citi is getting more and more stingy with retention offers in each passing year.
What do you say to the automated system? "I want to close my account" and if it allows you to close, how do you back out or cancel? I want to avoid actually closing it out.
