Also, for myself, I have five Amex cards:
- Gold
- Hilton Surpass
- Everyday Preferred
- Blue Cash Everyday
- Blue Cash Everyday (originally from some other card that got converted into Blue Cash Everyday) - opened since 1999.
To improve by chance of getting the Amex Platinum without the " due to your pattern, you are not eligible for welcome bonus", should I try to close one or two more of these cards?
If I recollect, the pattern verbiage / popup mentions opening and closing accounts as the reason for no bonus. Even with that, I do recommend closing out of accounts not being used. As noted above, put some spend on cards to get rid of popup jail. By closing cards, you reduce the number of cards need to put spend on (as a way to not account against you).
