New (Travel!) Pillows in United Economy
On my -almost empty - return flight FRA-EWR earlier this week, I found a little something from United on my economy plus seat: a newly designed pillow in the shape of a travel pillow. Although the quality of the pillow is meh, the around-the-neck design, albeit not new in the travel industry, is actually an improvement to the older pillow design. The only drawback: one pillow alone is not thick enough to actually support the head - at least not mine! Since all passengers in economy on that flight had each a row to themselves, most used the travel pillows as regular pillows when lying flat and stretched out across three seats. I tried to sleep while sitting in my seat with the pillow around my neck and after stacking a second pillow on top of the first, my "build-a-bear" pillow lent me enough support for a comfortable three-hour sleep in the artificially dimmed 787-10 fuselage!
