Thought I would reply to sum up my opinion on the different options people provided and the situation generally.

For the contact centres if you go down as a noshow unfortunately we don’t have the flexibility to reinstate or rebook. Essentially it would be a refund as per ticket rules and buy yourself a ticket.
I notice some people have mentioned Customer Relations, note that they would not get involved with current bookings and wouldn’t look at reinstating flights.

For the airport, they have extra flexibility based on you showing up at the airport but you were late or some other issue meant you couldn’t travel. I would say its an acknowledgement of ok you made a reasonable effort to get there and did want to travel.

Usually in this type of scenario they can protect the return and allow you to change the outbound or change both flights to new dates.

However I would say if you simply don’t turn up like OP its unlikely they would be able to either reinstate flights or rebook.

Honestly its a very tough situation for OP but unfortunately I think its a case of get any refund as per fare rules you can and buy a new one. Of course i’m sure its also a very tough lesson learnt!
