Traffic is picking up lately. Delays not typically an issue but if you are doing a 4 leg same day turn even 30 minutes can screw things up. However, you should get credit for what you booked if you do multi-leg single ticket and they have operation issues so its not really a big deal.
The OPS itinerary is a morning return & an evening return with a 5+ hour cushion. He will also have AL access in LAX up to 4 times if he chooses to depart the airport between the morning and evening runs. Even if there are delays he should be fine especially if he is returning on the same aircraft.
