Those are very long connections, given the requirements for COVID testing
Don't you need a test for LHR for transfer? Maybe you can test in NYC with that connection time.
You could get a test in LA, then test again in UK (requiring you are able to enter the UK)
Hi, the long layovers are intentional - get to spend some time in NYC in both directions. .And I can take my bags home in the UK (fairly sure LHR won't hold checked luggage overnight) and then get the MXP flight the next morning.

But I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm trying to do a tier point optimised itinerary - but all these Covid checks are just making it too risky
