So the agent at LAX would definitely need to see whatever Italy requires for entry IF you were checking in all the way to MXP.

But since your LHR-MXP doesn't depart till +2 days from your departure from LAX, they will most likely only check you in to LHR, and thus you would only need to show whatever is required by the UK.

Not sure what your last day in LAX holds, but you could always head out the afternoon before your flight and check in with AA, on the off chance they were requiring the test for Italy to he shown you could get one done that evening.
