the pictures to me just looks like there is something missing from the decor to be 'palatial'. Maybe a taller mirror, or more crown molding? Perhaps its because the curtains are drawn, and I appreciate that other hotels often go over the top in this regard but these photos look like someone took a large room and plopped some nice furniture into it, kind of like the lamb chops on the plate. I've never stayed, but was thinking about it for next time after really enjoyed the ambiance and experience at Epicure with that courtyard and the cat, not sure i would now

To each their own, sounds like a nice stay with excellent service which probably trumps all else, glad you enjoyed yourself.
