Points earned for flying always go the person that has their butt in seat. does not matter how it is paid. And, as said, only happens when you COMPLETE the flight.

Points earned on credit card for the person and RR number tied to that card.

Also note... credit card earnings/points are posted within a day or so of when the montly close takes place. So, the year ends sometime in December, and not on Dec 31st
