I moved from Salt Lake City to Dallas in December of 2017. For the most part I did all I could to avoid AA and flew a mixture of WN and DL since moving. In 2020 that all changed, with flights and fares from Love Field in the toilet and AA with a robust an inexpensive schedule from DFW, as well as cheaper parking at DFW... My husband picked up the AA Elite World Mastercard giving us both access to the Admirals Club and with almost every market AA has more non-stop flights that WN, Lounge Access, and non-stop to international destinations (We like going to PVR and love that quick non-stop... So now we're both Platinum Pro on AA and Platinum on Delta, and both of our A-List status goes away on WN at the end of this year.
Having said all that, AA in every way makes me miss Delta when flying them. AA's summer operational meltdowns at every turn caused us both numerous cancelled flights, numerous multi-hour delays, cranky crews, no cocktails in coach, dirty and worn Admirals Clubs, mediocre food options up front, no built in IFE, tiny seats at 30" pitch, a Main Cabin Extra product that offers nothing more than 2-3" of extra leg room (no premium boarding, seats spread throughout the plane, no free drinks, limited seats in Main Cabin Extra, etc) and Oasis/Kodiak modifications that make Delta's 737-900s look spacious in comparison. There have been too many times this year that I've really wondered if it's worth it since AA is such a mess and such an inferior on-board and operational product. I still slightly prefer a non-stop though and hope AA can get their mess together.
There is no question, DL is totally superior to AA in just about every metric I can think of. I'd jump at a good job offer that would put me back in a Delta hub city! LOL. But in all seriousness, we fly DL whenever there is a non-stop available from DFW or DAL, and anywhere AA doesn't have a non-stop option (I have to go to ATW fairly regularly). Delta will always be my number one rated airline, but I'm stuck with a lot of AA for now.
