If anyone got into my account, they did not redeem anything visible to me. If they were attempting to redeem points, then Hilton caught them before they got anywhere. It would seem odd that Hilton was fast enough to proactively stop someone from redeeming points, yet they have no processes in place at all to quickly verify a user after they think fraud may have occurred.

I almost never login to my Hilton account without using VPN so I hope it will never be consider a red flag.
I've used a VPN forever too. The new(er) wrinkle for me is that I use the app quite a bit too. Wondering if the two locations at the same time throw up a flag.
