Joking aside, I stayed there (541 Lexington) back in the 2000-2001 era and would regularly get upgraded and liked the place.
Move forward to mid 2010s and it was a totally different experience - the place was not kept up and upgrades were rare so stopped frequenting the place. As noted, it is no longer in the family.

The W on Lexington was in midtown (and was the most uptown W in Manhattan AFAIK) but reflagged to the Maxwell a few years ago. It closed down permanently during the pandemic.

Yes, the W in FiDi closed. It looks like it’s going to be reflagged soon. The W Downtown Residences will remain flagged under W in the same way the Ritz Carlton Battery Park Residences survived their hotel deflag.
