Stayed yesterday for the first time and I will be moving the property up on my San Diego list of preferred hotels.

Self-parking was included in my $161 government contractor rate and the food credit covered almost all of the very decent continental, pre-tip. More importantly, the credit was applied correctly without any intervention on my part. Staff were unfailingly friendly.

Although there was plenty of check-in parking out front, my guess is that you could call the front desk on arrival and be remotely let into the underground parking off (if memory serves) Union Street. It’s all one-way streets, so three lefts once you pass the front entrance.

I had a high room with a peekaboo bay view, with no particular upgrade. The hotel felt near brand new. There is a saltwater pool that works for laps and a jacuzzi on the 4th floor deck and the hotel shares space with a two-level professional style gym, including an outside power lifting deck, that guests can access.

The location is closer to the San Diego civic complex than the Gaslight entertainment district/Petco or Little Italy, but all walkable. Normally, I’d split a week up, but I might make an exception here.
