Agreed about the 18 months part however 2 things:
- They aren't doing this on a volunteer basis nor are they doing it as a favor to the customer
- Whatever issues they are having, being unprofessional can really only serve to exacerbate their problems. Doing or saying the wrong thing at the wrong time to the wrong person could cost them their job. Unlikely losing their job would help whatever issues they are having.
We all have bad days and I bet most of us are sympathetic to that. But people need to figure out how to deal with it in ways other than taking it out on customers, for their own sake. Excusing it just validates and condones the behavior which isn't helpful for anyone.
1) No they’re not volunteering for this, they’re just trying to earn a living like the rest of us.
2) Maybe that being “snotty” is their way of dealing with it. Perhaps we need to learn to live with the fact that no one is perfect and people aren’t always going to be nice to one another.
