Account suspended by fraud department...what a mess
I'm interested if anyone else has had experience with this. I see Hilton closing out Diamond accounts with no reason fairly frequently and usually the member doesn't ever get their points back.
My situation: out of the blue, I got a notice about a month ago that my account was suspended for suspicious activity. Upon calling Hilton, they said it was suspicious login activity and if I reset my password, I'd be reinstated. So I've done that, and gone round and round a couple times with new passwords that didn't unlock the account, and finally a Diamond agent has emailed some internal fraud desk on my behalf asking for a reinstatement.
There are apparently no phone numbers to call to talk to the fraud department and the chat agents can't do anything.
As for my account itself, I can't recall any transaction that would be deemed "suspicious". I have never sold or gifted points to anyone else, and I can't even recall booking an award stay for anyone but me. I earn points via the Amex and paid stays and exclusively use them for hotel awards....not transfers out to miles or anything like that. During the pandemic I had very little activity...just monthly Amex posts...and since then I've had a couple short award stays along with a couple 1-night paid stays.
As for my logins, they come from a PC and two mobile devices. The only thing I can think of is that my work computer probably shows as an IP address from the datacenter we VPN into (in the U.S.) and my mobile would presumably show a more pinpointed accurate location.
So Hilton is treating my like a criminal and I can't even put a finger on why....and they have no process whatsoever for immediately resolving it. It's incredibly frustrating...I've been a member since 1999 and could easily establish my identity with someone on the phone if I needed to.
Has anyone here *successfully* gotten an unlock? If so, how long did they leave you in limbo before actually helping you out?
