Unhappy Advice on redemption tickets on to-be-cancelled flight from Vancouver

Dear CX experts

I have two redemption tickets from Vancouver back to Hong Kong on CX837 leaving Vancouver on Jan 9. Because of the unreliability of Cathay flights, been checking the booking site every day. And alas, today that particular flight is no longer selling. But I noticed that on Jan 8, there are weirdly 2 flights (CX 865 and CX 837) flying from Vancouver to Hong Kong. Could this just be a database mess up and my original flight is indeed flying? I've tried calling Asia Miles but they have been less than helpful and can't / won't do anything.

Would anyone be able to help and check that my original flight has been zeroed out?

Also, assuming that my redemption ticket will get cancelled in a few days, should I
  1. proactively book a revenue ticket? If booking revenue ticket, would you book with Air Canada or stick to Cathay? Which airline do you think is more reliable? Air Canada schedule still shows daily flights and may be subject to future cuts. Can I assume that Cathay won't make any further cuts to their Vancouver schedule? Also, the Air Canada flight will be 3 hours longer due to the crew change at Seoul airport so that's a big negative for us.
  2. wait for the flight to get officially cancelled and then try my luck with Cathay being able to move me to another flight? Is that expecting too much from Cathay?
Any feedback is welcomed and appreciated!
