Hi

Just back at the WA berlin having dinner after a fantastic tour

We did the air-raid shelters with children's stories on the wall and then various halls including the baggage reclaim (used for a sushi belt apparently after a show. Also went past the mural of the US airforce pilot who started dropping candy during the berlin airlift.
Then upstairs to the old vip lounge converted to a basketball court ( name would not be politically correct these days ( berlin braves) and the old ten pin bowling alley before going on the tarmac past a c47 and into a hanger.

our guide ( bob from the Netherlands) had a folder with old photos and made jokes about berlin and airports being only 90% full) and was very knowledgeable including how the halls were split in height as part of the denatzification of the airport

After the tour went past a circus and a crazy golf course made from recyclable stuff and grabbed a cola and a coffee.
then walked on the taxiway and 2000feet on 09L( great to see the distance markers by the side of the runway)

2000ft looks very short when looking at it for real.
The u2 video it's a beautiful day kept coming into my head
then walked to 09r but it was blocked off about 2000ft as it was being used for wind kite racing.

Then back to the u6 station and up to fredichstrasser fro the s bahn to zoo station and a short walk back tothe hotel.

Also did victoria park before the tour and the memorial park
It is a unique experience and well worth the time.
.
Regards
