Your review is the first I’ve seen that says the service was up and down, and I for one [even if I’m still outside the earning range of the average Six Senses guest] am still uninterested in this property. I find the cave rooms with pianos/musical instruments appealing as I come from music at home, but otherwise, I feel like my 1000+ hard-earned Euros are better spent elsewhere than flaunting my personally-trained, Tulum-tanned six pack by the pool.

I think this is a fair view. Basically check in was pretty piss poor with a lack of explanation of the hotel / agent with a slight attitude problem and then I wasted nearly two hours in total waiting around just so I could pay a very large supplement to move to an upgraded junior suite with a better sea view. Things then things improved a lot but some of the service was still not good enough yet (e.g. not getting orders quite right by the pool, similar with requests from housekeeping). I will say service and also food in the restaurants was generally great, but it really should be at the prices they are charging. The caves are very cool. It's fair to say most guests didn't really care much what things cost, but some other guests I spoke to also thought the service needed work. The staff were no more notably attractive than any other hotel I've stayed at recently. I'd say the W Ibiza has more attractive staff, on average!
