HNL DFW 77W Flagship Mini Trip Report

Hello everyone. Since there aren't many reports on this route which AA recently upgraded to Flagship service, I'd like to share my experience.

Check-in and Gate Agents
All were very friendly. As a CK I was escorted onboard before general boarding and I was very happy that the flight was on time.

Lounge
At HNL, AA and JL share a lounge which offers very limited food (during my visit, potato soup and chicken nuggets were the only hot options) and beverages. Note that all the self-service machines have been turned off so even for water, you would need to go to the food area and ask the staff for your beverage. The lounge itself is comfortable, though it looks quite weird with extremely tall plastic dividers throughout. CK (in any class) as well as non-CK passengers ticketed in Flagship Business qualify for complimentary access. Overall, the lounge was very empty and I suspect that this was due to most Flagship Business passengers not realizing that they can access the lounge.

Amenities
Standard long-haul Casper duvet and large pillow were already waiting at my seat as well as the larger international Flagship Business amenity kit (in the past, AA didn't offer amenity kits to Hawaii but they appear to be offering them now that select Hawaii flights are officially sold as Flagship Business).

Cabin
When the 4-class 77Ws fly DFW-Hawaii routes, they are sold as 3-classes since both the F and J cabins are considered Flagship Business. I had seat 2A and I wasn't impressed by how poorly AA has kept it with scratches and broken edges.

Crew
Whilst the crew working in Flagship Business was friendly and polite, none were particularly attentive or proactive. No pre-departure beverages were offered, not even bottles of water though after the first meal service they did provide individual bottled waters.

Meal
The first meal featured three options: braised short ribs, teriyaki salmon, or vegetable lasagna. I had pre-ordered the short ribs; didn't enjoy the dish but at least it was something hot to eat. All choices came with a sad-looking cauliflower salad and a tiny "Belgian" chocolate cheesecake. The second meal was just a pretty bland continental breakfast: everyone received a Chobani strawberry yogurt, a small package of granola, and a fruit salad. Menus were distributed during boarding.

Happy to answer any questions.
